About Homeward

A Louisville neighbor you can lean on.

Homeward Transitions was built on a deep love for Louisville and years of nonprofit work alongside older adults and their families. That foundation shapes how we show up. We are equal parts practical project manager and patient companion for whatever the day brings.

Right-sizing a longtime home, settling a parent into a senior community, or preparing a house to go on the market can pull a family in a dozen directions at once. We pull it back into one plan, one timeline, and one person you call when a question comes up at 9pm.

You'll get warmth where it matters and structure where it counts: a written plan, trusted local professionals, honest timelines, and someone standing beside you on move day until the kettle is on in the new kitchen.

A Promise From Our Founder

Honor home at every stage.

My name is Emily Dudley, and I am the founder of Homeward Transitions. My career has been spent in nonprofit development and project management, where I have led complex initiatives, coordinated teams of trusted partners, and guided people through change with patience and a steady plan.

I founded this company because of the people who shaped me most: my great-grandparents and grandparents, who taught me that every stage of life deserves to be honored with dignity and care. Their lessons, combined with years of organizing the moving pieces of meaningful work, prepared me to walk alongside Louisville families during one of the most significant transitions they will ever face.

Homeward Transitions exists to honor home at every stage, and bring calm, experienced coordination to the moments that matter most.

That is my promise to you.

Frequently Asked

Questions families ask us first.

A look at how we work, what to expect in the early days, and how every moving piece comes together.

How does your process work?
We begin with a complimentary visit so we can sit down together, listen to your family's story, and understand what is ahead. From there, we build a written transition plan that lays out the scope, timeline, and the team we will bring in to support the work. Once the plan is approved, we move into hands on support: sorting and packing alongside you, coordinating every vendor, and overseeing move day. We close the project with a soft landing in the new space, with beds made and the kitchen ready for breakfast.
What can families expect in the first week?
The first week is about clarity and calm. Within the first few days you will have a thorough in home consultation, a needs assessment, and a written transition plan in hand. We walk through the plan together, agree on priorities, and confirm a realistic timeline. By the end of the week, vendor outreach has begun, key dates are on the calendar, and you have one direct point of contact for every question that comes up.
How do you coordinate vendors and logistics?
Coordination is at the heart of what we do. We rely on a network of Louisville professionals we have personally vetted, including movers, estate sale specialists, donation partners, cleaners, and contractors. We schedule them, brief them on your family's preferences, oversee their work on site, and manage the timeline so the pieces fit together. You receive regular updates and a single invoice trail, and you never have to chase a phone call or repeat your story to a stranger.
What does it cost?
Every transition is different, so we quote in writing after your complimentary visit, once we have a clear picture of the scope, the home, and the timeline. Most projects fall into a predictable range depending on the package and add-ons you choose, and we will walk you through exactly what is included before any work begins. There are no surprise fees, and you will always know what the next step costs before we take it.
Are you insured, and what happens if something is damaged?
Yes. Homeward Transitions carries general liability insurance, and every vendor we bring into your home is licensed and insured for the work they perform. In the rare event that something is damaged, we tell you right away, document it, and work with you and the responsible vendor to make it right. Caring for your belongings, especially the irreplaceable ones, is something we take very seriously.
